Formed in Brussels in 1993, Base is made up of some 45 people working from studios in Brussels, New York, Barcelona, Madrid, and Paris. The studio specializes in creative direction and brand development. As an addition to its identity work, Base in 2004 launched a writing division, BaseWORDS. In 2005, the studio added two further complementary departments: BaseMOTION, specializing in film and motion graphics, and BaseLAB, which designs custom typefaces and builds design-oriented tools. The agency also invested in Books on the Move, a comprehensive book publisher offering services in design, editorial, printing, and worldwide distribution. With a clientele that spans the corporate, cultural, and institutional sectors, Base has worked on a broad range of projects, from creating image campaigns to designing identities for major corporations and institutions.
