Once Upon Now - Opera as a critic of our modern day tragedy

For the past 10 years we have been collaborating with Brussels Opera house La Monnaie to create their seasonal campaigns and brochures — dedicating each year’s visual communication to a specific theme.

The 2020/2021 campaign stemmed from Peter de Caluwe’s (director of La Monnaie) growing preoccupation with the decline of democracy and society’s trust in politics.

Centered around grotesquely picturesque media snapshots of white male parliamentarians fighting, the campaign reflects our modern-day drama, blurring the lines between reality and fiction with images that sometimes resemble paintings or staged photographs.
